Welcome to lukesnedden.com

This post was published on the original “Confusion Management”. I read it again today, I also posted it on the original lukesnedden.com blog. I am posting it again to remind me again of the path that I want to take.

It is an important passage for me as it serves as the reminder and by putting it out into the public domain it is a lot harder to retract!

This passage explains why I have moved to participate in the Web 2.0 world, it will give you a good insight into my mindset and how I wish to continue.

Welcome to lukesnedden.com

This is the first time I have left a job without knowing where I will work next. I am really excited about where this will take me. Let me qualify this by saying that Amanda will be working so I won’t be devoid of income, but I will need to pull my own weight pretty quickly.

What am I going to do? I’m not really sure, I do need to think of some sort of plan to at least point me in the right direction.

My plan as it stands at this juncture is to do something that works for me rather than working for something. It may sound cliché in some ways, and some might say “but everyone is doing that these days” but I think the reality is that most people are happy working for someone or something, rather than having something work for them. I do realise that these things don’t happen magically. A new venture/business will work, but it will work only with hard work.

The jobs that have always been successful for me are the ones which you are rewarded for the work you put in. Most jobs you get paid the same amount every week and as an employee you manage to do the bare minimum to get by, if you do an more than that you are not using your time affectively.

But hold on you say, what about having pride in you work and yourself?

Many employees will talk about have pride in their work, having pride is great, however what are you more proud of?

Its great that work is a source of pride, but what if you were asked “What are you more proud of?” I bet the first answer that comes to most peoples mind is not their work, it will their beautiful family or their success at sport or their hobbies, how they built their own house, or even their car. Pushed further I’m sure they will mention their work.

At the end of the day we all need some sort of income to enjoy life, I’m hopeing that I will be able to produce something that I am proud of but not necessarily what I am most proud of.
